Hunters Rest decoys are hand carved by Frank Register from solid blocks of highest grade cork. Heads are carved from juniper or replacement heads from herters are used. Keels are cut from dressed oak. The decoy is then fitted with an oak tailboard according to species.

Some birds come with a hide-a-way keel that covers a small bottle of fine Tennessee sippin' whiskey. Some others cover a duck call, while others cover 4 lead shotgun shells and are game warden-proof. All blocks are hand painted by Nancy Boykin with acrylic paint that is true to the species. All are sealed with a waterproof sealer.
